Time To Show Your Green
(Blog Wednesday 3/10/2010)
If you are Irish or if you just want to be Irish for a brief time, the day is almost here! I am, of course referring to St. Patrick’s Day.
Initiating the celebration is the Third Annual St. Patrick’s parade in Wichita’s historic Delano district. Last year this event attracted some 1500 participants and 6000 viewers. This year’s parade will begin at noon on Saturday, March 13. The parade will travel along Douglas Avenue from McLean Boulevard west to Walnut Street.
Continuing with an Irish flair, Michael Flatley’s Lord Of The Dance will provide an evening of captivating Celtic music and dance. The single performance will be at the Century II Concert Hall on Monday, March 15 at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased through WichitaTIX.
Finally, on the DAY itself, enjoy breakfast with an Irish touch at the 35th Annual Blarney Breakfast. Imagine breakfasting while enjoying Celtic dancers and bagpiper! If that doesn’t entice you, how about having your breakfast served to you by a Wichita celebrity? Celebrities include county commissioners, city council members, local TV and radio personalities, and other well known members of the community. Breakfast will be served between 6:00 and 10:00 am at Old Chicago East. Proceeds from the Blarney Breakfast help fund services for children with special needs helped through Rainbows United. If you are looking for other things to do in the Wichita area, check out our calendar.
