2005 marks the 85th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. The LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS Wichita-Metro is coordinating a task force of representatives from women's organizations to plan and implement a major celebration for our community.

Eleanor Clift, contributing editor of Newsweek and White House correspondent, will be in Wichita on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. to speak about her latest book, Founding Sisters and the Nineteenth Amendment, a dramatic account of the struggle to pass the 19th Amendment and win voting rights for women. The event is free and open to the public. Eleanor Clift is well known for her appearances as a panelist on The McLaughlin Group on PBS (KPTS, Channel 8) at 9:00 p.m. Fridays.
